First things first, we need to set a baseline. Our top 5 cars from only $56/week* share these common denominators.

  • Automatic Transmission (AUTO) – Because what youngster drives a manual transmission these days?
  • 5 Star ANCAP Safety Rating – For all the overprotective parents who want to make sure that their precious children are safe on the roads
  • 5 Doors – So that you can fit in your bae, plus your 3 besties
  • 1.4L engine capacity or less – Because lets face it, working at maccas wouldn’t fill up a V8 for a day
  • White colour – For base model consistency

You may be wondering why we aren’t doing a top 10 list. My reasoning for this is that these days our attention spans are getting shorter and shorter and who would bother looking past the first 5 results in Google? I also thought that nobody in their right mind would pick the 6th best car out of a list of 10 so keeping the list down to 5 lets us focus on the cream of the crop.

Don’t worry, I have gone and done all the hard work for you so that you can quickly skim over this article and go back to playing minecraft, taking selfies or whatever the most recent of the Gen Y’s are doing these days.

If you can stay focused right through to the end of the article, we may even throw in a surprise.

Volkswagen Polo in White

Consider Your First Car Loan On A VW Polo 66TSI Trendline

$16,290RRP ($18,990 DRIVE AWAY) AFFORDABLE CAR LOANS FROM ONLY $63/Week*

With all the negative media surrounding the Volkswagen diesel emissions defeat/cheat device at present, let’s not forget that VW make quality automobiles, especially in petrol variants. Even the VW Up!, the smallest of the VW range was built with style, quality and smart engineering and showed that VW take great care when designing and manufacturing vehicles. With the Up! removed from the Australian market, VW has had time to focus on the smallest of it’s range, the VW Polo.

Boasting a 7 Speed Automatic DSG Gearbox and a 1.2litre turbocharged engine, the VW Polo never feels sluggish and by keeping the engine size down, the team at VW has managed to stretch fuel economy to the lowest of our picks at an impressive 4.8L/100km.

For those who love gadgets, the entry model comes standard with a 6.5 inch touchscreen display that connects to both Apple and Android smartphones and bluetooth audio and handsfree to keep you focused on the road.

Kia Rio in Silver

Kia Rio S – Perfect Value For P Plater Car Finance

($16,990 Drive Away) LOW REPAYMENTS FROM ONLY $56/Week*

Let’s get straight to the point here and say that the Kia Rio S has a 7 Year unlimited KM warranty, a current promotion for a free upgrade to Auto and like the VW Polo, comes standard with 15 inch wheels.

Right from the get go, this stylish hatchback is both well ahead on price and has at least 2 years more warranty than its competitors.

I had difficulty finding out the nitty gritty of the Kia RIO’s technology and standout features however from a style perspective, the RIO stands out as one of the better looking in the pack.

Mazda2 Neo in White

Mazda 2 NEO – Stylish Contestant For Your First Car Loan

$16,990 ($18,990 drive-away DRIVE AWAY) FINANCE FROM ONLY $63/Week*

I know, I know… Our constants at the beginning of this article lists an engine capacity of 1.4L or less and the advertising for the Mazda 2 shows that it packs a 1.5 litre engine. Further delving into the specifications reveals that the engine is actually a 1.4 (point something) litre engine capacity. For that reason, I will include this in the list as it is a great looking hatch worthy of inclusion.

Comes standard with a 3 year unlimited km warranty for personal use.

    • 6 Speed Automatic Transmission with a respectable 5.5L/100km fuel efficiency
    • 15 inch steel wheels, and the standard USB/Bluetooth audio system with steering controls (It looks like this is standard across our entire list)
    • 6 Airbags as standard – also includes ABS with EBD, BAS | Vehicle stability management to keep you on the road and in control
Car Loan Toyota Yaris

Toyota Yaris Ascent – Economical Car Finance For Toyota Hatchbacks

$16,490 ($18,087.75 DRIVE AWAY) CAR LOANS FROM ONLY $60/Week*

We couldn’t omit the trustworthy Toyota from this list as it is synonymous with resale value and affordable servicing. Fortunately, the Yaris comes standard with a few stand out features.

Boasting a 6.1” Touchscreen Audio Display system, 7 Airbags (tops the list), and a reverse camera as standard, the Yaris appeals to both children who love their gadgets and adults that love their safety.

On the downside, the relatively small 1.3L VVT-i Engine has a surprisingly poor 5.7L/100km fuel efficiency in comparison to the competition. The 4 Speed Automatic Gearbox is also a step down from some of the options in this list.

    • Cruise Control as standard on all models
    • Steering wheel audio controls for the bluetooth/smartphone enabled audio system
    • 15 inch steel wheels, air conditioning and remote central locking

The Verdict

For fuel efficiency, styling and quality of build, we couldn’t go past the VW Polo. With its impressive turbocharged engine and reverse camera as standard, the VW is my number 1 pick. However, when it comes to warranty and price, the Kia RIO blitzes the competition and looks great on the road. For pure styling and the trendiest website of all brands (definitely go and check it out), the Mazda 2 shows great promise for young adults wanting a great looking car with a bit more power.

For me the winner is the Polo, but for you it may be one of the other picks. Whatever your preference, we can help you organise your first car loan on any car you have your eyes on.
